Hello there, and welcome! I'm April.
Over the years, you wouldn’t believe how many times people have asked me. “How do you do it all?” Between raising 5 children, cooking, cleaning, gardening, preserving food, caring for backyard chickens, volunteering in my community, and running my own business, life stays pretty full! Add in the occasional church event where I’m cooking for a hundred plus people, and somehow, I still manage to find time to squeeze in a bit of crafting and creative projects, all while making the most of our cozy little townhouse.
I finally decided it was time to start this blog/website to share how I really do it. The tips, the triumphs, and the inevitable failures along the way. I’m not perfect, nor am I an expert, just a regular mom who’s learned that success comes down to two things: adaptability (and a sense of humor) and making the best of what you have go a long way.
I may live smack in the middle of the city, but at heart, I’m a country girl living out my country dreams on a postage stamp sized piece of land.
I’d love for you to join me on my journey of creating a tiny country homestead right here in the heart of the city. Together, we’ll explore everything from cooking and preserving to tending our feathered neighbours, the cluckery, crafting, and feeding the masses. Along the way, I’ll share how I find simple joy in living modestly, frugally, and fully one small meaningful moment at a time.
So pull up a chair, grab a jar of something homemade, and let’s dig in together.
